Kamiakin's Perrins, Williams a dual threat

Kamiakin's Perrins, Williams a dual threat

KENNEWICK — K Perrins and Javan Williams have taken different paths to arrive at the same place — on the other end of Kylle Robertson’s biggest throws.

Senior wideouts and biggest big-play threats in Kamiakin’s offense, Perrins and Williams are a key reason why there is plenty of air in the Braves’ passing game.

“Javan and K on the outside, that’s a scary thing,” said Kamiakin coach Scott Biglin.

Perrins, whose full name is K Tyler Perrins, is a speedster who has come of age in the Braves’ football system, getting called up late in the season as a freshman, getting a couple starts as a sophomore and then starting at defensive back as a junior.

As one of the few returning starters coming into the season, he knew a lot would be placed on his shoulders on the field and in the locker room.

Braves tackle shorthanded Falcons

Braves tackle shorthanded Falcons

K Perrins wasn't terribly pleased with how he started off in Kamiakin's 31-29 overtime loss to Prosser last week.

But the senior wide receiver dared anyone to find any fault in his second-quarter performance in the Braves' decisive 28-7 win over Hanford on Friday at Fran Rish Stadium.

Perrins started off good with a pair of catches for 23 yards in the first quarter. Good turned to great with three touchdown catches from Kamiakin quarterback Kylle Robertson in the second quarter.

"Kylle looked at me and saw how the cornerback was playing me. He hit me perfectly down the left sideline," Perrins said of his first touchdown grab, a 36-yard gift from the Falcons' defensive backfield that left Perrins wide open for a 7-0 lead.

"The Hanford student section was saying how we weren't any good, and how they were the better team," he said. "I think we definitely stepped it up."
