Kamiakin 41, Prosser 12

By the Tri-City Herald

PROSSER -- Zach Umemoto ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns, Jason Hutchison threw for 222 yards and three more scores and the Kamiakin defense was up to old tricks in the season-opener for both teams at Art Fiker Stadium.

Hutchison, making his first varsity start, was 13-for-19 and hooked up with three different receivers for touchdowns. He also was picked off twice.

Kamiakin's defense, opportunistic during the Braves' run to the 3A championship game last season, turned in a pick-six when Andrew Castillo returned an interception 65 yards in the fourth quarter. The Braves also limited Prosser to just 20 rushing yards on 26 carries and 150 total yards.
